Kyiv and Baku Discuss Closer Cooperation in Oil and Gas Sector

July 22, 2025 – Baku

Azerbaijan and Ukraine are exploring ways to deepen collaboration in the oil and gas sector, according to Ukraine’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Yuriy Husyev.

Speaking to Report, Husyev emphasized the shared strategic interests between the two countries. “It is clear that Azerbaijan, as a producer of oil and gas and a growing player in the European energy market, and Ukraine, which has fully cut ties with Russian fuel, are both committed to expanding cooperation in this field,” the ambassador stated.

He also highlighted Azerbaijan’s crucial support for Ukraine’s energy security amid ongoing conflict. “Baku continues to provide essential assistance in the form of energy equipment needed to rebuild our energy infrastructure following Russian strikes,” Husyev said.

The ambassador noted that Azerbaijan has been a consistent and strategic partner to Ukraine, especially since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.

“Ukraine and Azerbaijan have been strategic partners for many years, and that partnership is rooted in deep historical ties and mutual friendship,” he added.

The growing energy dialogue comes at a time when both countries seek to strengthen regional alliances and reduce dependence on Russian resources.
