Azerbaijan–Russia Transport Corridor Operating Smoothly, Says Industry Official

July 22, 2025 – Baku

The transport corridor between Azerbaijan and Russia is functioning without disruption, with no reported issues in recent months, according to a senior logistics official.

Speaking to reporters, Kenan Gurbanov, Secretary General of the Azerbaijan International Road Carriers Association (ABADA), confirmed that freight operations between the two countries remain stable.

“There have been no obstacles from either side, freight volumes have not declined, and drivers have not reported any difficulties,” Gurbanov stated. “Therefore, there is no reason to suggest that there are any serious problems along this route.”

He noted that more than half of international cargo shipments in the region follow the Iran–Russia route, with both Azerbaijani and Russian carriers actively involved in the corridor.

The update comes amid broader efforts to ensure the reliability of key trade routes in the South Caucasus, as regional connectivity gains increased geopolitical and economic importance.
