Bus Route Between Baku and Nakhchivan via Iran Resumes After Temporary Disruption

BAKU, July 21 — Passenger transport on the Baku–Nakhchivan–Baku bus route, which passes through the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has resumed following a temporary disruption, Azerbaijani officials confirmed.

According to AYNA, the buses were briefly delayed at a checkpoint inside Iran due to additional information requests from Iranian authorities. After the necessary documentation was provided, the buses were cleared and continued their journey. All vehicles have now safely arrived in Nakhchivan.

In response to a query, AYNA stated that while service on the Baku–Nakhchivan–Baku line had been temporarily suspended on June 14, 2025, it officially resumed on July 19, with the first bus successfully completing its trip.

Three subsequent buses encountered minor delays at the border due to Iranian customs requesting further details. Azerbaijani authorities responded promptly, and all three buses have since crossed the checkpoint and are en route to their final destination.

Officials noted that close coordination with Iranian counterparts is ongoing to ensure the smooth operation of this vital inter-regional route.
