BAKU, July 18 — Azerbaijan continues to expand its national healthcare coverage, with 80 organ transplants successfully performed in the first half of 2025 under the Mandatory Health Insurance (MHI) service package, according to the State Agency for MHI.
Of the total procedures, 56% were kidney transplants, 38% liver, and 6% bone marrow.
During the same January–June period, over 44 million medical services were delivered through the MHI system. More than 12.3 million visits were recorded across medical institutions, with over 3.6 million individuals receiving care at least once.
The most common services included general medical checkups and treatment for endocrine, respiratory, circulatory, and urinary system conditions — reflecting a growing reliance on public healthcare infrastructure across the country.
