BAKU, July 17 — Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover reached $24.4 billion in the first six months of 2025, marking a 12.1% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the State Customs Committee.

Exports accounted for $12.878 billion of the total volume, representing a slight decline of 0.2% year-on-year. Meanwhile, imports surged by 29.9%, totaling $11.522 billion.

As a result, the country posted a trade surplus of $1.356 billion — a figure that is three times lower than the surplus recorded in the first half of 2024.

Analysts attribute the narrowing surplus to rising domestic demand and increased reliance on imported goods, even as energy exports remain a core driver of Azerbaijan’s trade balance.
