NOVI PAZAR, Serbia | July 16 — Azerbaijani boxer Amina Tagi has captured the title of European Junior Champion after defeating Armenian athlete Amest Afrikyan in a high-stakes final at the continental championship held in Novi Pazar, Serbia.
Competing in the 50 kg weight category, Tagi delivered a dominant performance, winning the bout by decision, 4:1 (scores: 29:28, 29:28, 29:28, 27:30, 30:27), and securing Azerbaijan’s only gold medal in the women’s division.
Her victory was the highlight of a strong showing by the Azerbaijani junior women’s national team, which finished the tournament with a total of seven medals:
