French President Emmanuel Macron reiterated his strong support for a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, calling the potential deal a turning point for both the region and the broader international community.
Hosting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Paris, Macron praised Yerevan’s “bold efforts” to achieve peace and stressed that finalizing the treaty could unlock a new chapter in South Caucasus diplomacy.
“I was pleased to welcome Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to Paris. I reaffirmed France’s support for his courageous efforts to reach peace with Azerbaijan,” Macron stated. “Signing a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the near future would open a new chapter for all the countries and peoples of the region — and beyond.”
The French president’s remarks come as diplomatic momentum continues to build toward resolving the decades-long conflict. Just days earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump also expressed optimism, predicting that a final peace deal between Baku and Yerevan is likely to be concluded soon.
While specific details of the pending treaty remain under wraps, both Western and regional powers have signaled growing interest in a stable and lasting settlement in the South Caucasus.
