Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan were the top destinations for Russian chocolate exports in the first four months of 2025, according to data from the UN’s Comtrade platform, reported by RBC.
Kazakhstan led the list with $78.3 million worth of Russian chocolate imports between January and April. Azerbaijan ranked second, importing $23.4 million — nearly three times less than Kazakhstan — while Uzbekistan followed closely with $21.4 million.
Other major buyers included Kyrgyzstan ($14.7 million), Georgia ($8 million), and China, which purchased $7.4 million worth of chocolate, making it Russia’s sixth-largest customer for the product. Armenia, Serbia, and Moldova also appeared among the top importers, while Germany rounded out the top ten with $2.1 million in purchases.
The data reflect Russia’s growing focus on regional markets and developing economies amid shifting global trade dynamics and Western sanctions. The strong performance of Russian confectionery exports — especially in neighboring and CIS countries — highlights both established trade ties and the enduring appeal of affordable, mass-market sweets in these markets.
