Ukraine, Azerbaijan Discuss Potential Gas Supply Cooperation

Kyiv, July 13 – Ukraine is exploring the possibility of importing natural gas from Azerbaijan as part of a broader European energy diversification strategy, Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko announced.

In a recent meeting with Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, Halushchenko said the two sides discussed ways to deepen cooperation in natural gas production, storage, and transit, including direct deliveries to Ukraine.

“Azerbaijan is one of Europe’s key energy suppliers, and Ukraine sees great potential for expanding cooperation,” Halushchenko wrote on Facebook.

The talks come amid ongoing European efforts to reduce dependency on Russian energy and diversify supply sources through the Southern Gas Corridor and other regional partnerships. While no concrete agreements were announced, both sides signaled readiness to continue dialogue.
