Azerbaijan’s National Olympic Committee (NOC) provides monthly stipends to athletes who have earned Olympic, World, or European championship titles, the organization confirmed to Oxu.Az.
Speaking to the outlet, NOC spokesperson Murad Farzaliyev clarified that not all athletes are eligible for financial support:
“We do not offer stipends to every athlete. Only those who have become Olympic, World, or European champions receive monthly payments. Olympic champions are granted stipends for life. In sports, there is no such thing as a ‘former Olympic champion’—they always remain on our stipend list,” he said.
However, World and European champions must maintain top performance to continue receiving benefits. If they fail to repeat their victories, they lose eligibility.
According to figures obtained by Oxu.Az, the monthly stipend amount ranges from 500 to 2,000 manats (approx. $295 to $1,175), depending on the title and achievement level of the athlete.
