Armenia has officially welcomed the outcome of the recent meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, calling the talks held in Abu Dhabi a “successful” milestone in the ongoing peace process.

The statement came from Ani Badalyan, spokesperson for Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and was published on the ministry’s official Telegram channel.

“Armenia also considers the meeting in Abu Dhabi successful and confirms that it can serve as a solid foundation for the further advancement of the peace process,” Badalyan said.

High-Level Talks in the UAE

On July 10, the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia met in the capital of the United Arab Emirates to discuss the latest developments in efforts to normalize relations and reach a final peace agreement after decades of conflict.

According to official readouts from both sides, the talks focused on strengthening bilateral dialogue and expanding confidence-building measures—two core pillars of the peace agenda.

The meeting comes amid a series of regional diplomatic efforts and shifting geopolitical dynamics in the South Caucasus, and is seen as a critical step toward ending hostilities and reopening key transport routes, such as the proposed Zangezur Corridor.

Outlook

While no final agreement was announced, both Baku and Yerevan have expressed willingness to maintain momentum, with further negotiations expected in the coming weeks. The positive tone of the post-meeting statements suggests that mutual political will may finally be aligning after years of deadlock.

Analysts say the Abu Dhabi talks could mark a turning point—provided the parties follow through on their commitments and manage domestic opposition to any eventual peace deal.
