Rising gasoline and diesel prices in Azerbaijan may affect taxi fares and transportation costs, experts say.
According to analysts, even modest increases in fuel prices tend to have a ripple effect across multiple sectors. Although the recent hike was relatively small – AZN 0.05 for gasoline and AZN 0.10 for diesel – it may still influence operating costs for transport services.
Experts note that fuel price increases directly affect carriers and service providers, with taxis likely to be the first segment to adjust fares. This is largely because taxi services in Azerbaijan are primarily operated by private companies.
“Transportation services that rely on fuel, including taxis and freight carriers, are the most sensitive to fuel price changes,” experts said, adding that some level of fare adjustment may be unavoidable.
At the same time, electric and hybrid vehicles are expected to be less affected by the fuel price hike.
Taxi companies contacted by the media said no final decisions have been made so far. Bolt stated that there is currently no confirmed plan to raise fares, while Uber said any potential changes would be considered after completing internal assessments.
