Azerbaijan’s used car market is closing out 2025 with relatively subdued activity, but market participants say prices and demand are likely to increase in 2026, potentially starting as early as the first months of the year.

According to dealers and analysts, the secondary auto market struggled for much of 2025 due to weak purchasing power. However, expectations for next year are more optimistic, driven by higher import costs and renewed buyer interest.

Sellers report that price increases are already becoming noticeable.

“Most models have gone up by about $3,000–$4,000,” one dealer said. “Cars that used to sell for $22,000–$23,000 are no longer available at those prices. The increase is gradual, but it’s clearly underway.”

Market participants note that the trend is not limited to domestic factors. Used car prices have also risen abroad, particularly in South Korea and other key supplier countries. Imported vehicles are now estimated to cost $1,500-$2,000 more than in previous months.

Despite higher prices, many expect buyer activity to pick up in 2026. Dealers say demand for used vehicles has already started to recover.

“Over the past 20–25 days, we’ve seen a noticeable increase in buyers,” a seller said. “More people are turning to the used car market.”

Experts say expectations for 2026 will depend on several key factors, including price dynamics, supply-and-demand balance, and broader market structure. While forecasts point to a simultaneous rise in prices and transaction volumes, the actual scale of growth will become clearer over time.
