Russia is attempting to exert pressure on Azerbaijan by backing revanchist political forces in Armenia that oppose the regional peace process, political analyst Eldar Namazov said.
He argued that Moscow is using political, media, and religious channels to empower groups seeking to revive the Karabakh agenda and derail normalization between Baku and Yerevan.

“Supporting revanchism in Armenia is a direct threat to Azerbaijan’s national security,” Namazov said. “It is an attempt to reinsert conflict into the region through indirect means.”
Namazov also pointed to a rise in hostile narratives about Azerbaijan in Russian media circles close to the Kremlin, including efforts to exploit ethnic themes.
According to him, peace on the South Caucasus today rests not on rhetoric, but on deterrence.
“The real guarantor of stability has been power – the Azerbaijani state and its army,” he said.
