Azerbaijan-China Trade Turnover Exceeds $4 Billion

Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and China reached $4.214 billion in January–November of this year.

According to Vesti Baku, citing the State Customs Committee, this represents an increase of $816.1 million, or 24%, compared to the same period in 2024.

China accounted for 9.45% of Azerbaijan’s total foreign trade turnover during the reporting period, ranking fourth among the country’s largest trading partners.

Exports from Azerbaijan to China amounted to $79.6 million, up by $66.6 million, or 4.8 times, year-on-year.

Imports from China, meanwhile, totaled $4.1 billion, marking an annual increase of $749.4 million, or 22.2%. As a result, China ranked as Azerbaijan’s largest source of imports during the period.

In January–November 2025, Azerbaijan also exported a total of 22.804 billion cubic meters of natural gas worth $8.117 billion. Gas export revenues increased by $513.3 million (6.7%) year-on-year, while export volumes declined by 718 million cubic meters (3%). Natural gas accounted for 34.69% of the country’s total exports.

Overall, Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover reached $44.589 billion in the reporting period, up by $1.48 billion (3.4%) compared to the previous year. Exports totaled $23.401 billion, while imports stood at $21.188 billion.

Year-on-year, exports declined by $937 million (3.8%), whereas imports increased by $2.416 billion (12.9%). As a result, Azerbaijan recorded a positive foreign trade balance of $2.213 billion, which is 2.5 times lower than a year earlier.
