The first shipment of Azerbaijani petroleum products has been delivered to Armenia.
Armenia’s Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, announced the development on social media, stating that a freight train dispatched from Baku carrying Azerbaijani AI-95 gasoline has already arrived in the country.
According to Papoyan, the shipment consists of 22 railcars transporting around 1,300 tons of fuel, which crossed the Georgian–Armenian border earlier.
He described the delivery as the first trade and economic transaction between Azerbaijan and Armenia following the establishment of peace, and the first such deal since both countries gained independence.
Earlier reports noted that the initial shipment of Azerbaijani petroleum products was dispatched from the Balajary station near Baku. Separately, Report said a train operated by Azerbaijan Railways departed early Friday from the Boyuk-Kyasik station in Azerbaijan’s Agstafa district, carrying 22 railcars with approximately 1,220 tons of AI-95 automotive fuel.
The cargo was transported to Armenia via Georgia.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also shared footage of the arrival of the railway shipment carrying Azerbaijani petroleum products into the republic.
The video was posted on Pashinyan’s official social media page and captioned: “Peace has now become a reality.”
The train, consisting of 22 tank railcars loaded with Azerbaijani-origin AI-95 gasoline with a total volume of around 1,300 tons, was delivered to Armenia via Georgia. The supply of petroleum products from Azerbaijan to Armenia is being carried out on a commercial basis.
