Azerbaijan’s under-16 chess team has claimed victory at the First Team Chess Championship of Turkic-Speaking Countries, held in the Turkish city of Gaziantep.
According to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the tournament featured eight teams representing Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
The competition was played in a round-robin format, with each team consisting of one male and one female player.

The Azerbaijani duo Rustam Rustamov and Maryam Agaverdiyeva secured the championship title after finishing the tournament with 11 points. Uzbekistan also collected 11 points but placed second based on tie-breaking criteria, while the host nation, Türkiye, finished third.
