Azerbaijan has held discussions with OpenAI on the development of infrastructure for sovereign artificial intelligence, marking a potential step toward strategic cooperation in the field.
The talks were announced by Rashad Nabiyev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport, in a post on social media platform X.
According to Nabiyev, the discussions took place during his visit to the United States, where he met with Boris Power, Head of Applied Research at OpenAI.
“We exchanged views on prospects for cooperation in building infrastructure for sovereign artificial intelligence, implementing joint innovation and research initiatives, education and workforce training, as well as the application of AI solutions tailored to local requirements,” the minister said.
The discussions reflect Azerbaijan’s broader efforts to develop national AI capabilities while ensuring that advanced technologies are adapted to local needs and strategic priorities.
