Four Azerbaijani boxers have advanced to the quarterfinals of the U-17 European Boxing Championship, currently taking place in Kehlheim, Germany.
On the third day of competition, Shahin Aslanov (60 kg) delivered a dominant performance, defeating Demid Klochko of Israel by a unanimous decision, 5:0 (30:27 across all judges’ scorecards). Aslanov will face Ivaylo Kolev of Bulgaria in his quarterfinal bout on December 14.
Adil Zalov (70 kg) also opened his campaign with a convincing win. In the round of 16, he outboxed Hakan Arda Ilgun of Türkiye, earning another 5:0 unanimous decision (29:28 on all cards). Zalov is set to meet Oscar Mushakovski of Poland on December 13.
In the women’s division, Gulyar Huseynova (48 kg) cruised past Aleksandra Mishchenko of Ukraine, winning 5:0 (30:27, 30:27, 29:28, 30:27, 29:28). She will compete against Maria Spennato of Italy in the quarterfinals on December 14.
Meanwhile, Fidan Bakarova (63 kg) edged out Antonina Binechka of Poland in a tightly contested bout, securing a 3:2 split decision (29:26, 28:27, 29:26, 27:28, 27:28). Bakarova will also step into the ring on December 14, where she is scheduled to face Rhianna Holden of England.
The U-17 European Boxing Championship is set to conclude on December 17.
