Azerbaijan has lifted its restrictions on the import of breeding animals from Georgia, the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency (AFSA) announced on Monday.
According to the agency, Georgia’s National Food Agency submitted official documentation confirming a stable epizootic situation in the country. Veterinary monitoring and preventive measures conducted by Georgian authorities indicated no risk of spreading highly dangerous infectious diseases.
AFSA noted that Georgian institutions have also guaranteed compliance with all veterinary and sanitary requirements, as well as the maintenance of proper epizootic surveillance.
The decision clears the way for the resumption of livestock imports between the two neighboring countries after previous precautionary limitations.
