Armenia Says Trump Route Will Boost East-West Exports With Kazakhstan

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the proposed “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) will significantly expand economic cooperation between Armenia and Kazakhstan, as Yerevan intensifies talks with Washington on the project’s legal and regulatory framework.

Speaking at a press conference alongside Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Pashinyan noted that the Washington Declaration established a political foundation for opening transport links between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

According to him, both countries have agreed to allow cross-border movement “from Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan through Armenia, and from Armenia to Armenia through Azerbaijan,” on the basis of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and reciprocity.

Pashinyan said TRIPP will unlock new opportunities for bilateral trade and boost export potential: Armenia toward the east, Kazakhstan toward the west. The envisioned corridor includes rail and pipeline routes, power lines, cables, and road infrastructure – components that both Armenia and Azerbaijan have expressed readiness to facilitate.

Tokayev, for his part, confirmed Kazakhstan’s strong interest in joining TRIPP, describing it as an international initiative aligned with regional priorities. Projects such as North–South and the Middle Corridor, he said, serve the strategic interests of both countries.

He added that the evolving geopolitical landscape in the South Caucasus offers a chance to strengthen regional cooperation. Tokayev also highlighted the countries’ growing economic partnership, pointing out that Kazakhstan’s exports to Armenia exceeded $350 million last year. Both leaders agreed to expand trade, diversify product flows, and pursue new joint investment projects.
