Baku and Ankara Strengthen Digital Partnership With New ICT Initiatives

Azerbaijan and Turkey have agreed to deepen cooperation in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector and move forward with joint projects, officials announced after a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-25) in Baku.

According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, representatives of the country’s ICT Agency met with counterparts from Turkey’s Information and Communication Technologies Authority to discuss expanding strategic collaboration.

Focus on Digital Transformation

Nail Mardanov, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s ICT Agency, briefed the Turkish delegation on Azerbaijan’s ongoing digital transformation, including modernization of the telecom sector and efforts to align regulatory frameworks with international standards.

Both sides emphasized that closer cooperation is essential for:

  • responding rapidly to emerging technological challenges,

  • strengthening network resilience and security,

  • improving service quality across telecom markets in both countries.

Key Areas of Coordination

The two delegations held detailed discussions on:

  • radio spectrum management,

  • network resilience and emergency communications,

  • information exchange during crisis situations,

  • regulatory approaches to social media and online platforms.

Following the talks, both sides assessed potential areas of future partnership and reached an agreement to implement joint ICT projects, signaling a new phase in digital cooperation between Baku and Ankara.
