Azerbaijani citizens will soon be able to receive larger VAT refunds under new amendments to the country’s Tax Code, set to take effect next year.
The proposed changes were endorsed by the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship and recommended for consideration at a plenary session.
The update was announced by MP and economist Vugar Bayramov on his social media pages.
According to Bayramov, the revised mechanism will allow citizens to receive more money back through the VAT refund system.
“Under the proposed project, the refund mechanism will extend to services provided by barbershops, beauty salons, and cosmetology centers, allowing customers to reclaim part of the VAT they pay,” he wrote.
The new rules aim to boost transparency, encourage cashless payments, and accelerate the formalization (“whitening”) of these service sectors.
