Azerbaijan suffered a home defeat to Iceland in their FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying match in Group D.
The game, held at the 8th km Settlement Stadium in Baku, ended with a 2:0 victory for the visitors, Report informs.
Iceland’s goals came from Albert Gudmundsson in the 20th minute and Sverrir Ingason in the 39th.
In the group’s other match, France will host Ukraine later tonight at 23:45 Baku time.
After five games, France leads Group D with 10 points, followed by Iceland and Ukraine with 7 points each. Azerbaijan remains last with 1 point.
