Dozens of Azerbaijani citizens who paid large sums to import cars from abroad say they have been waiting for their vehicles for four months, raising concerns about a possible large-scale fraud scheme.
According to KhaxarTV, buyers claim they ordered cars from China through Əsədzadə Sənan LLC but have yet to receive them. Several say that around 100 people may be affected and that some were allegedly threatened by individuals linked to the company.
Company Responds: “The Delays Are the Clients’ Fault”
To clarify the situation, journalists contacted the company’s director Sanən Asadzade, who is currently outside Azerbaijan. Speaking via WhatsApp, he insisted that the buyers themselves caused the delays:
“After signing the contract, we send an invoice for payment. A customer accepts the obligation to pay within 24 hours – they read the contract and confirm it with a fingerprint. But many people make the payment later, whenever it is convenient for them, which disrupts the entire process,” Asadzade said.
He added that the contract includes a force majeure clause, which allows the company to extend deadlines if customers are notified in writing. According to him, all disputes should first be resolved through negotiations and then, if necessary, in court.
Police: Director Wanted for Large-Scale Fraud
The Ministry of Internal Affairs offered a starkly different account.
Spokesman Jasarat Ganbarli confirmed that Sanən Asadzade has been declared wanted, suspected of defrauding citizens under the pretext of importing vehicles.
A criminal case has been opened by the Narimanov District Police Department involving 17 episodes of fraud allegedly committed by the 27-year-old director. Investigators say the total damage inflicted on customers amounts to $412,000.
According to police, Asadzade left the country after giving citizens false promises. Investigative procedures are underway.
