Bosnia and Azerbaijan Pledge Closer Partnership During High-Level Talks

As part of his official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, held a meeting with Željka Cvijanović, a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense.

The meeting was also attended by Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vilayat Guliyev. According to the ministry, the sides held a broad exchange of views on issues of mutual interest, focusing on defense cooperation and regional security.

During the visit, Hasanov and the Azerbaijani delegation laid a wreath at the Friendship Park memorial complex, dedicated to the victims of the Khojaly and Srebrenica genocides – a symbolic gesture reflecting the shared historical memory and solidarity between the two nations.

Bosnia and Herzegovina Seeks Closer Ties with Azerbaijan

Following the meeting, Željka Cvijanović shared a statement on her social media page, emphasizing the friendly nature of relations between Baku and Sarajevo:

“Azerbaijan is a friendly country with which Bosnia and Herzegovina seeks to develop the best possible relations. I had a meeting with Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov, during which we discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation. On this occasion, I also asked him to convey my warm greetings to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev,” Cvijanović wrote.

The visit of Minister Hasanov underscores the deepening of political and defense cooperation between Azerbaijan and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which have strengthened their partnership in recent years through diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives.
