Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Victory in the Patriotic War, marking the end of nearly three decades of occupation in Karabakh.
In his message, Erdoğan extended heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the Turkish people, reaffirming Turkey’s deep solidarity with Azerbaijan and its people:

“Mr. President, my dear brother,
On behalf of my nation and myself, I sincerely congratulate Your Excellency and the brotherly people of Azerbaijan on the fifth anniversary of your Victory in the Patriotic War.”
The Turkish leader expressed hope that the ongoing peace efforts following Azerbaijan’s historic victory would soon lead to a lasting and comprehensive peace agreement, emphasizing that a stable South Caucasus would contribute to the prosperity and strategic importance of the entire region.
“The constructive steps taken within the peace process after this glorious victory will, I hope, result in a lasting settlement. I am confident that stability in the Caucasus will serve the welfare of the entire region and further enhance its global significance,” Erdoğan wrote.
He also praised Azerbaijan’s rapid reconstruction and revival of the liberated territories, describing them as a source of pride for Turkey, which continues to view Azerbaijan’s joys and sorrows as its own:
“The progress achieved in the swift reconstruction of the liberated lands is commendable. On this meaningful anniversary, Turkey takes great pride in witnessing the advances made by brotherly Azerbaijan, whose sorrow we see as our sorrow, and whose joy we share as our own.”
President Erdoğan underlined the enduring strength of the “one nation, two states” principle, describing Turkish-Azerbaijani ties as an unshakable pillar of regional peace, trust, and stability:
“Our high-level relations, based on the principle of ‘one nation, two states,’ and our unbreakable brotherhood, rooted in a shared destiny, continue to grow stronger. The alliance and special cooperation we have built together remain among the key foundations of regional stability.”
He concluded by expressing confidence in Azerbaijan’s continued success under President Aliyev’s leadership:
“The achievements of brotherly Azerbaijan under your wise leadership will continue to make a valuable contribution to the prosperity of our region. I wish Your Excellency good health, and the friendly and brotherly people of Azerbaijan peace and prosperity.”
