Oil production at Azerbaijan’s Azeri–Chirag–Gunashli (ACG) block totaled about 89 million barrels – equivalent to 12 million tons – during the first nine months of 2025, according to BP-Azerbaijan, the project’s operator.
The figure represents a 4.3% decrease compared to the same period in 2024, when output stood at 93 million barrels. Average daily production in January–September 2025 reached 327,000 barrels per day, down from 339,000 barrels per day a year earlier.
Production levels by platform were as follows:
Chirag – 21,000 barrels per day (vs. 23,000 in 2024)
Central Azeri – 88,000 (vs. 96,500)
West Azeri – 75,000 (vs. 75,500)
East Azeri – 43,000 (vs. 51,000)
Deepwater Gunashli – 52,000 (vs. 57,400)
West Chirag – 24,000 (vs. 29,100)
Central East Azeri – 24,000 (vs. 6,500 in 2024), reflecting new production capacity.
As of the end of the third quarter, 145 production wells, 48 water injection wells, and 10 gas injection wells were in operation across the ACG block. Over the first three quarters of 2025, six oil producers, four water injectors, and one gas injector were drilled and completed.
The ACG project – Azerbaijan’s largest oil field operated by BP and SOCAR – marked the 20th anniversary of its first oil from the Central Azeri platform in February 2025. To date, the platform has produced a total of 1.2 billion barrels (155 million tons) of crude oil.
