Russia is ready to resume full-scale humanitarian and cultural cooperation with Azerbaijan, according to Mikhail Shvydkoy, the Russian president’s special envoy for international cultural cooperation.
“We have always said that Russia is prepared for anything our partners are ready for. To the extent that our Azerbaijani colleagues wish to restore cooperation in the humanitarian sphere – in science, education, and culture – we are equally ready,” Shvydkoy told RIA Novosti, commenting on prospects for renewing bilateral cultural relations.
He emphasized that Russia and Azerbaijan share a long common history, deep family ties, and “spiritual and moral values that form the foundation of both societies.”
“As I see it, there are no serious reasons preventing us from restoring relations in full,” he added.
In June, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture announced the cancellation of all Russian cultural events planned in the country – including concerts, festivals, theater performances, and exhibitions – organized by both state and private institutions.
