Azerbaijan’s Young Wrestlers Capture Seven Medals in Estonia

Azerbaijani youth Greco-Roman wrestlers claimed seven medals at an international wrestling tournament held in Rakvere, Estonia, the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation reported.

The competition brought together around 500 athletes from 19 countries across three age categories. Under the guidance of national team coaches Turaj Huseynli and Taleh Mammadov, seven Azerbaijani wrestlers reached the podium.

In the U-13 category, Bakir Maharramli (35 kg) won silver. Among U-15 athletes, Elmir Cherkezov (62 kg) and Isfahan Hasanov (85 kg) also took silver, while Huseyn Mustafazade (52 kg) earned bronze.

In the U-17 division, Nihat Taghiyev (65 kg) became champion, with Abdurrahman Huseynli (51 kg) and Mehti Askerli (60 kg) each securing bronze medals.

The strong showing in Rakvere underscores the continued success of Azerbaijan’s Greco-Roman wrestling program, which remains one of the country’s most consistent sources of international sporting achievement.
