]Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) is bringing back paradise: starting October 27, the national carrier will resume direct flights between Baku and Malé, the capital of the Maldives.
The route promises to make the journey to the Indian Ocean faster, easier, and more comfortable than ever.
According to AZAL’s press service, flights will operate three times a week – on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays – using the airline’s new Airbus A320neo, recently added to its fleet. Passengers can expect an upgraded in-flight menu, high-quality service, and modern comfort designed to make the flight itself part of the vacation experience.
Year-Round Sunshine Awaits
The Maldives remains one of the world’s most coveted destinations for honeymoons, romantic getaways, and family trips. The archipelago enjoys a tropical climate with year-round temperatures around 28–30°C, while the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean stay a pleasant 27°C.
Adventure seekers can enjoy diving, snorkeling, and dhoni boat excursions, as well as encounters with whale sharks and manta rays. Highlights include Ari Atoll, known globally for diving, and Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve famous for its glowing bioluminescent plankton.
Easier Travel Thanks to Visa-Free Entry
The recently signed visa-free agreement between Azerbaijan and the Maldives will make travel even more seamless for Azerbaijani citizens holding ordinary passports.
“The Maldives attract hundreds of thousands of travelers each year. With the return of AZAL’s convenient direct flights and the new visa-free regime, visiting this tropical paradise has become easier and more appealing than ever,” the airline said in a statement.
AZAL also emphasized that the Maldives are not just a luxury destination – travelers can opt for local islands with guesthouses and small hotels, offering a more authentic experience of Maldivian culture and hospitality.
Tickets for the Baku-Malé-Baku route are already available on AZAL’s official website, mobile app, and authorized ticketing offices.
