Azerbaijan Reaffirms Its Role as a Crossroads of Civilizations

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev has reaffirmed the country’s role as a unique meeting point of cultures and civilizations, emphasizing that the preservation of multiculturalism and tolerance remains one of the key pillars of national policy.

In his message to the participants of the 4th Meeting of the Asian Cultural Council under the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), the president highlighted Azerbaijan’s centuries-old tradition of coexistence among diverse communities.

“Throughout history, Azerbaijan has been a place where different civilizations converged and influenced one another,” the statement reads. “The peaceful coexistence of representatives of all religions and ethnic groups-based on mutual respect, trust, and understanding-has played a vital role in our country’s development.”

President Aliyev underscored that Azerbaijan not only preserves these traditions domestically but also promotes intercultural dialogue internationally, supporting global initiatives to strengthen peace through cultural diplomacy.

He also noted the importance of the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, held regularly in Baku, as an important platform for advancing such initiatives worldwide.
