The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is interested in taking part in oil and gas field development projects in Turkmenistan, Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said during an event marking Turkmenistan’s Independence Day.
“Our countries have significant potential to expand energy cooperation. SOCAR is keen to participate in the development of promising fields in Turkmenistan,” Jabbarov noted, according to Report.
The minister emphasized that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan also plays a crucial role in boosting the efficiency of the Middle Corridor, the trans-Eurasian transport route whose freight volumes continue to rise each year.
“Turkmenistan has built modern transport infrastructure, while Azerbaijan, located along the corridor, has invested heavily in ports, railways, and logistics hubs. Joining our efforts will bring major benefits to the entire region,” Jabbarov added.
He also underlined that the implementation of a new transport corridor connecting mainland Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic will further enhance regional transit capacity and contribute to broader economic development.
