A nationwide vaccination campaign against seasonal influenza has begun across Azerbaijan, the Administration of Regional Medical Divisions (TƏBİB) announced on Thursday.

Flu shots are now available in primary healthcare facilities in both Baku and the regions. The vaccines, imported by the Ministry of Health, are produced by the French pharmaceutical company Sanofi Pasteur, known for its high-quality seasonal flu formulations.

According to TƏBİB, the inactivated flu vaccines play a critical role in protecting children, the elderly, individuals with chronic illnesses, and healthcare workers from influenza and its complications.

Vaccination is voluntary, and residents can receive the shot at district central hospitals in the regions, or at primary health centers and polyclinics in Baku that provide outpatient services.

The flu vaccines are available at dozens of medical centers across the capital, including clinics in Sabail, Yasamal, Binagadi, Khatai, Narimanov, Nizami, Sabunchu, Surakhani, Garadagh, Khazar, and Pirallahi districts.

Officials emphasized that the annual flu campaign aims to reduce the spread of seasonal infections and prevent severe complications among high-risk groups during the upcoming winter months.
