The closing ceremony of the 3rd CIS Games took place at the Ganja City Stadium, marking the conclusion of the major multisport event that brought together more than 1,600 athletes from 13 countries.
According to Report’s correspondent from Ganja, the ceremony was attended by government officials, representatives of international sports organizations, athletes, and thousands of spectators. The event opened with a video montage highlighting the most memorable moments of the Games.
Addressing the audience, Samir Sharifov, Chairman of the National Organizing Committee, welcomed participants and guests, emphasizing the strong public interest and successful organization of the 3rd CIS Games in Azerbaijan.
Following the speeches, the Games’ flag was formally lowered and handed over to the Executive Committee of the CIS Games. The symbolic handover was performed by Azerbaijani athletes – Nihad Rahimov (sambo), Magsud Mahsudov (trampoline gymnastics), Turgut Hasanov (karate), Tarlan Gurbanaliev (chovgan), Ogtay Huseynov (swimming), Ali Nazarov (wrestling), Umay Dadashova (taekwondo), Gulyar Huseynova (boxing), and Konul Eyvazli (judo).
The official portion of the ceremony concluded with the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, followed by a colorful artistic program that celebrated the unity and friendship of the participating nations.
In total, 1,624 athletes and 2,337 delegates from 13 countries competed in the Games. Azerbaijan was represented by 340 athletes, while other delegations included Russia (262), Uzbekistan (254), Belarus (240), Kazakhstan (147), Tajikistan (144), Kyrgyzstan (126), Turkmenistan (48), Türkiye (38), Cuba (11), Pakistan (4), Kuwait (6), and Oman (4).
