President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Binali Yıldırım, Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), and Kubanichbek Omuraliev, Secretary-General of the OTS, in the city of Gabala ahead of the organization’s upcoming summit.
During the meeting with Binali Yıldırım, both sides noted with satisfaction the regular exchanges between the Azerbaijani leader and the Turkish statesman.
Yıldırım expressed gratitude to President Aliyev for his continued support of the Organization of Turkic States and reaffirmed the Council of Elders’ commitment to strengthening cooperation among Turkic nations.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of the 12th Summit of the OTS Heads of State, emphasizing confidence that it will be held at a high level, in line with Azerbaijan’s tradition of hosting major international events.
In a separate meeting, Secretary-General Kubanichbek Omuraliev congratulated President Aliyev on the progress achieved in Washington under the auspices of U.S. President Donald Trump, related to advancing the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia. He thanked Azerbaijan for its strong support in raising the OTS’s international profile and deepening cooperation among member and observer states.
President Aliyev, in turn, expressed confidence that the 12th Gabala Summit, themed “Regional Peace and Security,” will further strengthen friendship, solidarity, and partnership within the Turkic world.
