President Ilham Aliyev has congratulated German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on the occasion of German Unity Day, calling Germany an “important partner” for Azerbaijan.
In his letter, Aliyev underlined the significance of bilateral ties and recalled Steinmeier’s visit to Baku in April, which, he said, gave “a new impulse” to cooperation.
“We attach great importance to the comprehensive development of our relations,” Aliyev wrote.

“I believe that we will continue to work together to strengthen the friendship between Azerbaijan and Germany, expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, and give it new content.”
The Azerbaijani leader also extended wishes of peace and prosperity to the people of Germany.
