Ride-hailing service Bolt has tightened enforcement measures against drivers in Azerbaijan who accept trips with card payments but then cancel them without justification.
Reports circulating on social media suggest that some drivers have discovered unexpected negative balances on their accounts after such cancellations, reflecting financial penalties imposed by the company.
Responding to an inquiry from Trend, Bolt said canceling trips solely because of card payment is “unacceptable.”
“If a passenger reports such an incident through the app, our support team conducts an investigation. Once confirmed, the driver is contacted and necessary measures are taken,” the company explained.
Bolt stressed that drivers have no valid reason to reject cashless trips since earnings are transferred to their bank cards on a daily basis. For each unjustified cancellation, drivers may face a fine of up to 50 manats (about $29). Repeat violations could lead to restricted platform access or even permanent suspension.
