Azerbaijan’s education system is preparing to roll out an innovative chatbot designed to serve as an intelligent learning assistant for students. The new platform will allow schoolchildren to receive round-the-clock answers to questions across multiple subjects, including Azerbaijani language and history.

According to Azerbaycan Muellimi magazine, Vusal Khanlarov, head of the Education Informatization Department at the Ministry of Science and Education, outlined the next stage of the country’s “Digital School” platform. He said artificial intelligence will become the cornerstone of the upgraded system, deployed in two main directions: support for learners and assistance for teachers.

“For students, the chatbot will act as a real learning partner,” Khanlarov explained.

“It will analyze each pupil’s progress, provide personalized study materials in areas that require more depth, and explain difficult concepts in accessible language.”

Teachers, he added, will also benefit from the platform. It is expected to streamline lesson planning, help interpret methodological materials, and offer quick access to resources aligned with the national curriculum. The system will also automate grading and assessment.

Khanlarov stressed that the ultimate goal is to support both teachers and students, speeding up the absorption of educational content and easing the workload on educators.

“By automating routine tasks, teachers will have more time to focus on professional development and teaching quality,” he said.

The platform will adapt continuously as usage expands, analyzing patterns in student and teacher behavior to refine learning materials and improve personalization. Data security, Khanlarov noted, remains a top priority. The chatbot will operate in a fully protected environment and be localized entirely in Azerbaijani.

The Digital School platform has already attracted more than 500,000 active users across the country, including students, teachers, and school administrators. Developers say the AI assistant will be further enhanced in future phases.
