Armenia’s constitution remains the main obstacle to a peace deal with Azerbaijan, a senior Azerbaijani lawmaker said on Friday.

Speaking at a State Sovereignty Day conference in the Milli Majlis held under the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty,” Siyavush Novruzov, chair of parliament’s regional policy committee, argued that Yerevan “enshrined territorial claims” in its basic law, blocking progress.

“Removing this provision is the primary condition for achieving peace,” Novruzov said, according to Report.
