Qarabağ’s U-19 side opened their UEFA Youth League campaign with a 7–1 defeat to Benfica, but the scoreline carried an uncanny family echo.

In goal for the Azerbaijani side was Teymur Hasanov, son of former national team goalkeeper Elkhan Hasanov. Nearly three decades earlier, in September 1995, Elkhan was part of the infamous “Auxerre Tragedy,” when Azerbaijan lost 0–10 to France in Euro qualifying. Substituted after conceding four goals in the first half, his replacement let in six more.
