Azerbaijani wrestler Osman Nurmagomedov (92 kg) captured a bronze medal at the World Wrestling Championships in Croatia’s capital after defeating Georgia’s Miriani Maisuradze 5:1 in the medal bout.
This marks Nurmagomedov’s fourth career medal at the World Championships, Oxu.Az informs.
His teammate Jabrayil Hajiyev (79 kg) won his repechage against Japan’s Ryunosuke Kamiya 5:3 but fell short in the bronze medal match, losing 2:4 to Iran’s Mohammad Nokhodilarimi, finishing in fifth place.
Medal Count Rises to Four
With Nurmagomedov’s success, Azerbaijan’s tally at the Zagreb tournament has reached four medals:
Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) — silver
Osman Nurmagomedov (92 kg) — bronze
Nuredin Novruzov (61 kg) — bronze
Arseniy Dzhioyev (86 kg) — bronze
The championship runs until September 21, with several Azerbaijani wrestlers — including Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg), Ali Rahimzada (65 kg), and Magomedkhan Magomedov (97 kg) — still set to compete.
