Azerbaijani boxers Saidjamshid Jafarov (75 kg) and Alfonso Dominguez (90 kg) fought their way into the semifinals of the World Boxing Championships, ultimately finishing with bronze medals after hard-fought bouts.
Jafarov, known for his sharp counterpunching, was edged out by Uzbekistan’s Fazliddin Erkinboev in a tense match that kept the Liverpool crowd on its feet. Dominguez, a veteran of Azerbaijan’s national squad, was stopped by Brazil’s Santos Ribeiro Filho, whose aggressive style proved decisive in the 90 kg clash.
