BAKU/YEREVAN, September 11
The offices of the Armenian and Azerbaijani deputy prime ministers have confirmed where last week’s reciprocal field visits took place: the southern part of Armenia’s Syunik Province (Zangezur) and the southern area of Azerbaijan’s Zangilan District.
The delegations – led by Armenia’s Mher Grigoryan and Azerbaijan’s Shahin Mustafayev – crossed into each other’s border regions on September 5, a move framed as part of the commissions’ work on border delimitation and security.
According to the Armenian side, discussions also covered demining, and the restoration and construction of necessary infrastructure with timelines meant to synchronize the opening of communications agreed in Washington on August 8.
Both sides said they also exchanged views on organizing the next meeting of the delimitation bodies. Russian, Armenian and regional outlets reported the same locations for the visits, underscoring the step’s practical focus on the ground.
