HELSINKI, September 11
Finnish exporters will gain access to more diversified routes into Asia once the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) comes online, argued Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Finland, Zaur Ahmadov, in an op-ed for Daily Finland.
TRIPP refers to a 42-kilometer Armenian segment of the broader Zangezur corridor linking mainland Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan and onward to Türkiye.
Ahmadov said TRIPP will expand the overall capacity of the Trans-Caspian “Middle Corridor”, creating “new opportunities for Finnish companies through faster and more secure supply chains,” and enabling shorter, safer, and more environmentally friendly connections. The envoy noted that Finland already has touchpoints on the route through Nurminen Logistics’ activity on the Trans-Caspian network.

The ambassador linked TRIPP’s rollout to the Azerbaijan–Armenia peace track, pointing to an August joint declaration signed at the White House in the presence of the U.S. president, and to the OSCE’s September 1 decision to terminate the Minsk Process, which coincides with Finland’s OSCE Chairmanship this year. He framed these steps as a “new beginning” for a region transitioning from geopolitical risk to a concrete peace framework.
Beyond Finland, analysts describe TRIPP as a central plank of the wider settlement—one that could reconfigure Eurasian freight flows and reduce exposure to higher-risk corridors—though they also flag implementation challenges and regional pushback that may need to be managed in the months ahead.
