76% of Russians would support Putin signing a peace agreement with Ukraine

Moscow – A strong majority of Russians say they would support President Vladimir Putin signing a peace agreement with Ukraine, according to a new survey by the research group Russian Field.

Seventy-six percent of respondents said they would back such a decision if it were made “tomorrow,” while 16 percent opposed it.

Support runs higher among women and adults 18 to 44, as well as low-income respondents, Russians with a university education, and audiences that primarily consume online media. Opposition is more common among men, people 45 and older, and those who rely on television and print news.

Views on a settlement closely track opinions about the war itself: respondents who call the military campaign successful — or who say they would not have canceled it in hindsight — are far less likely to back a peace deal, while 96 percent of those favoring talks and 92 percent who retrospectively would cancel the operation say they would support an agreement.

Note: The survey was conducted by Russian Field; field dates and sample details were not disclosed in the summary provided.
